So pleased when 2 Verreaux's Eagles passed overhead north of Mughsal and I didn't take one photo while they were showing well It was only until they were flying away from me that I got the camera on them!
I drove an hour west to Mughsal for a look around. As usual I ventured onto dirt tracks and on the second one off the main road, I followed a tiny river to a village. Just before I hit the village, I could see nothing until I got out of the car. I could hear a shrike singing and found to be a
Mauryan Grey Shrike. Then I heard a call I'm familiar with from being in Palestine.
2 Arabian Green Bee-eater proved mobile. other birds of note were
Blue Rock Thrush, Daurian Shrike, small flocks of
Arabian Partridge and more
Arabian Wheatear.
There were a pair of Arabian Green Bee-eater

Coming away from the village and I was back on the main road. Immediately on touching the hot tarmac surface, I could see a large number of gulls on a spit. Closer inspection found them all to be
Heuglin's and Sooty Gull with
Lesser Crested and Swift Tern. Despite scanning with the scope for twenty minutes, I couldn't find anything else except for small rafts of
Socotra Cormorant close inshore. As the road started to take sharp bends, climbing up the mountain, there were
Arabian Wheatear on the side. I was still climbing when I came to an army checkpoint. He told me that they were there as Yemen is not far away from here. The soldier looking at my passport probably didn't even know that the Tory Government is funding and supporting the Saudi regime into bombing the 85,000 civilians in Yemen. We also help fund jihadi groups such as ISIS and The White Helmets. Hang on a minute, The White Helmets are various al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist groups in Syria and the Tory Government funds them directly!! Not through any arms dealing with the Saudi's!! I guess that most people reading this post didn't even know about this. Mays husband also made a neat little profit out of an arms deal with the Saudi's as well. That's enough of writing about the Tory scum! 'Yes, I like the UK. Oman and UK are friends and one day I'll visit' He certainly didn't know.
I turned around and heading down the road, that I had just come up, I couldn't stop thinking how many 1000s have been killed less than 100 miles away in Yemen. If not through British bombs then disease and starvation. And to think that not so long ago the Saudi's were so close to a military attack on Qatar.
If I wasn't stopped at the checkpoint then I wouldn't of seen the
2 Verreaux's Eagles that were circling low above me. This was an eagle I wanted to see while I was in Oman showing off those white-upperparts. It was only when they had gone that I realised that I didn't take a single photo! I still had other things on my mind that were distracting me. Fortunately, while I was trying to take photos of
2 male Palestinian Sunbird, I heard
Fan-tailed Raven alarming behind me. I turned around to see an
Eastern Imperial, Short-toed and the
2 Verreaux's Eagle!! They didn't show like they did before but I got some record shots of them flying away.

James le Mesurier, an ex British military intelligence officer, with $300,000 of seed funding from Japan, the U.K., and the U.S., runs a seven-day course in Turkey for 25 "vetted" Syrians.
The government announces the funding, plus a number of "UK trained 25 man teams" to "deliver training for new civil defenders".
The funding for the White Helmets was announced as part of a larger funding package which included:
- over £67m of "support" to the "Syrian opposition"
- over £3m to "support the elimination of Assad’s chemical weapons"
- over £29m to "reduce the impacts of the conflict on the region"
As part of a £2.3 billion funding package to Syria, Boris Johnson announces a further £32 million in non-humanitarian aid.
Money raised from the single will go to the Jo Cox Foundation "which supports a range of charities", including the White Helmets.
