1st summer male Golden Oriole at Giants Castle
Today was kinda a repeat of yesterday. It started off with the 1st summer male Golden Oriole in the gorse at Giants Castle. It was found three days ago and like yesterday, it gave cracking flight views. At Porth Hellick there were single Greenshank and Common Sandpiper. However, it was Shooters Pool that produced the goods. Earlier in the day, I had 2 adult Night Heron fly out from shooters Pool and this evening, Higgo called to tell me that the Squacco had just come in, but was out of sight. after an half an hour wait, the squacco came down from the Sallows and landed in front of us only to be chased off back into the Sallows by a female Gadwall that had 4 juvenile on the pool. Shortly afterwards we observed the 2 vocal Night Heron fly out towards Old Town Bay. Yesterday I had 3 adults fly out at dusk. The only other birds of note today were both on Gugh where Bob Dawson had a female Bluethroat and the COMMON CRANE was feeding on the beach later moving to the nearby gardens.
