Summer migrants still hanging out

This Firecrest was in the same bush as a Siberian Chiffchaff at Newford Duckpond

I had a few hours off this afternoon and at Holy Vale there were over 20 Chiffchaff and single Siberian 'type' Chiffchaff, Swallow, Willow Warbler, Firecrest and Yellow-browed warbler.  Just across the road at Porth Hellick, the only birds of note were another 20 Chiffchaff. Newford held a few Chiffchaff and single Siberian Chiffchaff and Firecrest. The Ring-billed Gull I managed to see very briefly as I was up and down taxi to the airport. Also today a crazy very late record of a Wood Warbler was at Higher Moors.

Although this Siberian 'type' Chiffchaff looked good in the field at Holy Vale as one, it just didn't sound quite right

Swallow over Holy Vale

This stunning male Wheatear was still on the airfield on the 17th

On the 19th I had this Garden Warbler at Pelistry. I had a later individual than this on the 22nd November '05 at Newford.

Also on the 19th at Pelistry, over 100 Redwing and 6 Fieldfare fell high from the sky and started feeding.

This Grey Heron was on beach nearby
