BRUNNICK'S GUILLEMOT at Portland

BRUNNICK'S GUILLEMOT showing very well at Portland Harbour Elmarie Humphries  

  

  In the early hours of Sunday morning (29th) we drove south from Salop to Portland for the BRUNNICK'S GUILLEMOT. By 09.00 there were some 200 birders well spread out seaching for the danm thing in the harbour. We were at the end of the line and while scanning, I heard Lathem to my right who was with Jon Porter, who I have not seen for well  over 15 years, and the rest of the Salop gang. It was good to see you Jon. We all moved further down road, when someone shouted rather calmly, I've got it. It was some distance away, but a quick dash around the corner found everyone on top of the bird.

While seaching for he guillemot, the male Red-breasted Mergensers were busy displaying.

 

   We stepped into Devon and had a quick look at the WHITE-BILLED DIVER at Brixham Harbour. In the few minutes that we were there the bird showed pretty well Elmarie Humphries

 

It was like a summers day at Lyme Regis with 100's of folk out on the breach and in town
